Jane has been working with schools, colleges, universities and youth organisations for the past 16 years to develop enterprise education and business support for young people.

Enterprise & Employability

Enterprise and Employability

Jane worked with the Leeds City Region Local Enterprise Partnership in 2015 to run a national pilot project to establish enterprise advisers who work with schools to audit and develop enterprise activities. Jane is an enterprise adviser and is able to advise schools and colleges on the development of enterprise education and employability programmes. This can involve:

  • Auditing and reviewing current activity
  • Development and piloting of new programmes
  • Development of strategies and policies
  • Identification and facilitating of partnerships with the local business community
  • Evaluation of policies, strategies and programmes

Jane is currently working with the Federation of Small Businesses in West Yorkshire to develop their connections with young entrepreneurs and can offer the following:

  • Student-focussed workshops to support careers information, advice and guidance related to self-employment
  • Participation in careers events promoting self-employment
  • One to one mentoring support for young people considering self-employment

Business mentoring

Jane has supported over 200 people to turn their ideas for self-employment and business start-up into reality. From artists to web designers Jane provides mentoring on a one-to-one basis and covers the following:

  • Motivation
  • Ideas review and evaluation
  • Business Planning
  • Identity and branding
  • Market research
  • Customer profiling
  • Ideas testing and evaluation
  • Marketing and promotion
  • Financial management

An initial assessment informs a mentoring agreement which identifies your goals and any potential barriers and informs a personal development plan which is reviewed after each meeting.

  • Reviewing existing strategies and programmes
  • Developing and piloting new programmes
  • Supporting activity such as mock interviews, CV development and business mentoring
